What we restore

Three things we fix every week.

A craftsman re-weaving a hole in a Persian rug

Moth & Hole Reweaving

Knot-by-knot weave-back into the original foundation. Matched yarn, matched dye, matched knot density. Even severe moth damage, restored.

Color Restoration

Sun-faded fields and dye-run damage brought back. Hand-mixed acid dyes matched to the original colour, then locked in place.

Clients

What clients say about the repair work.

“A 1900 Heriz I’d been told was beyond repair. ABC rewove the missing corner knot-by-knot and matched the dye perfectly. Even our appraiser couldn’t see the patch.”

Diana S. — Pacific Heights, San Francisco

“Water damage from a burst pipe. ABC handled the entire insurance claim, billed direct, and restored the rug in under three weeks. Two adjusters told me they were the only shop in the Bay they trust for high-value pieces.”

Raj P. — Atherton

“Three generations of family rugs, all with worn fringes. ABC rebuilt every one and overcasted the edges. They’ll outlast the next two generations now.”

Elena K. — Menlo Park

Questions

The four we hear most.

How much does rug repair cost?

Repair is priced by the work, not the rug. Reweaving is per square inch and depends on knot density and dye match. Fringe rebuild and overcasting are by the linear foot. Send a photo of the damage and we’ll send a written estimate within 24 hours — no obligation, and we’ll tell you honestly if the rug isn’t worth the repair.

Will the repair show?

Done correctly, no. Knot-by-knot reweaving uses matched yarn (often wool from the same period when possible), matched knot density, and hand-mixed dye that ages with the rest of the rug. Even appraisers struggle to find a properly executed reweave. Color restoration is the same — we mix to match, never approximate.

Do you work with insurance?

Yes — we’re on the panel of every major homeowner’s carrier in the Bay Area. We bill the insurance directly, handle the photo documentation, and provide the appraisal letter the carrier needs. Water damage, fire, vandalism and pet damage are the four claims we file most often.

Can you save heavily damaged rugs?

Usually, yes. We’ve restored rugs with fifty percent foundation loss, severe moth infestation, water damage from burst pipes, and decades of wear. The honest answer comes after we see a photo — sometimes the repair cost exceeds replacement, and we’ll say so. But more often than people expect, the rug is salvageable.

Bring it in. We do the rest.
