Why a deep treatment
Smell is a molecule,
not a memory.
A pet-urine odor is not emotional, it is chemical — specifically uric-acid crystals trapped in the cotton foundation of the rug. Because those crystals are hygroscopic, they pull moisture from humid air and re-release volatile amines every time the room warms up. A rug that smells fine in February can smell awful in August.
Masking sprays do nothing to those crystals; they only add fragrance on top. Steam cleaning does not reach the foundation. Only full-immersion enzyme treatment, followed by an ozone chamber to oxidize remaining volatile compounds, breaks the smell at its source.
If we cannot get the odor out fully, we tell you before we wash. If we say we can and you still smell it after delivery, we redo the treatment at no charge.

Rug submerged in cold water and hand-flushed until run-off is clear. The foundation must be clean or the smell will return.

What people ask.
Is the guarantee real?
Yes. If anyone in your household smells urine on the rug within 30 days of delivery, we collect it for re-treatment at no charge. This has happened about twice per hundred rugs over the last five years.
Is ozone safe for wool and silk?
At the levels and durations we use, yes. Extended or high-concentration ozone can damage fibres; we run a controlled 6-hour cycle at 2 ppm on a timer, specifically formulated for natural fibres.
Does the rug come back smelling like anything?
It comes back smelling like a fresh-cleaned wool rug — a faint lanolin scent. No perfume, no ozone, no cover-up fragrances.
What if the foundation is damaged?
Some rugs come in with rotted cotton warps from years of uric acid. We will tell you honestly before the wash whether the foundation can hold up or needs reweaving first.
Do you treat cat urine differently from dog?
Cat urine has higher ammonia concentration and bonds more aggressively. The treatment is the same protocol but with extended enzyme dwell and occasionally a second ozone cycle.
Can I drop off a rug without a cleaning?
No, odor treatment only works paired with a full immersion wash. The smell lives in the foundation; you cannot reach it without cleaning the foundation.
